Five UGBS Faculty Earn Professorial Promotions
The University of Ghana Council has approved the promotion of five distinguished faculty members from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) in recognition of their exceptional contributions to research and teaching. The promotions, announced on 19th December 2024, include two full professors and three associate professors.
Prof. Mahmoud Abdulai Mahmoud, Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, has been promoted to full professor in Marketing. His research focuses on strategic marketing, with a focus on market orientation, corporate social responsibility, and firm performance. Prof. Abdulai’s work has been published in renowned international journals, including the European Journal of Innovation Management, Journal of Strategic Marketing, and the Services Industry Journal. He is also an Associate Research Fellow at the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies and a member of the International Academy of African Business Development (IAABD). Additionally, he has facilitated numerous training sessions on sales and negotiation skills through EDS-UGBS and British collaborations.
Prof. Sanda Mohammed-Aminu, Department of Organisation and Human Resource Management, has been promoted to full professor in Human Work Science. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden and has held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with the Industrial Work Environment Specialised Unit at the same institution. His research has contributed significantly to the development of an innovative work organisation model for the “Intelligent Deep Mine,” aimed at predicting and managing the work environments of future deep mines.
Dr. Saint Kuttu, promoted to Associate Professor of Financial Risk Management in the Department of Finance, has extensive teaching experience at institutions such as the Hanken School of Economics in Finland and GIMPA. He specialises in Finance, Risk Management, and Insurance and has published in high-ranking international journals, including Research in International Business and Finance and Emerging Markets Review Journal.
Dr. Raphael Odoom, now an Associate Professor of Marketing in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, is an expert in branding, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). His research interests include digital marketing, integrated marketing communications, and electronic business. His works have appeared in internationally recognised journals such as the Journal of Product and Brand Management and the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. He is also a Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg and a fellow at the University of Copenhagen.
Dr. George Acheampong, has also been promoted to an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, is a renowned researcher with expertise in enterprise dynamics and local economic development in Africa. He leads the Africa Lab for Enterprise Development (Africa LED) and is the local lead for a project on Port Efficiency at Tema Port. He also chairs the Africa’s Competitiveness in Global Markets track for the African Academy of International Business.
