UGBS’ Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship Holds AI Workshop for Faculty Members

The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) organised a capacity-building workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for faculty members on 16th October 2024. The workshop, held at the Executive Hall, aimed to empower faculty members to embrace and identify AI in their research and teaching.

Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, UGBS, led the workshop providing practical demonstrations of generative AI tools and AI detector tools. She emphasised that while AI is a useful tool, it lacks contextual understanding due to its limited domain knowledge, consequently, generating inaccurate and inappropriate information. Dr. Boateng cautioned faculty members to use AI wisely, acknowledging its limitations, and verifying information generated to ensure accuracy. She also advocated for a policy framework to regulate the ethical use of AI.

Dr. Raphael Odoom, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at UGBS, also guided faculty members on leveraging ChatGPT, focusing on crafting effective queries and prompts to maximise its full potential for research and teaching. Prof. Ernest Y. Tweneboah-Koduah, Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, UGBS who spearheaded the workshop, expressed gratitude to the facilitators, noting that the workshop was highly beneficial for enhancing research and improving supervision and teaching.
